It’s surely happened to any WordPress developer: When updating a certain WordPress plugin suddenly you’re unable to access the admin area. Luckily, there’s a simple solution!
Open your favorite FTP Application or your Host’s Cpanel File Manager, navigate to your site’s Plugins folder (/wp-content/plugins) and follow these simple steps:
1. Rename the plugins folder to plugins.hold – this will deactivate all plugins at once.
2. Now, login to your WordPress Admin area
3. In the FTP Application, rename the plugins.hold folder back to plugins.
4. At this point, all plugins are still deactivated. Go to the WordPress Admin area’s Plugins menu and activate all plugins except the one(s) causing problems.
